Chester charity named as finalist at inaugural North West awards!

The charity Children Today has got through to the final stages of the first ever North West Charity awards.

The charity, whose Head Office is in Chester, was one of 1500 charities from across Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria that entered to compete across fourteen categories and has now been named as a finalist in the prestigious ‘Small Charity – Big Impact’ category.

The awards have been launched to reward and recognise charities across the region for the significant contributions they have made to their communities. The ‘Small Charity – Big Impact’ award has been designed for smaller charities that have made a significant impact, exceeding their targets and community reach.

Ben Partridge, CEO of Children Today comments: “We’re ecstatic at being named as a finalist at these awards – especially in such a community-focused category. Whilst we are a small charity, our team has gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional results this year and make as big an impact as we possibly can to families across our region.

“A significant part of this success is due to support from our local partners like Risk Services (NW) Ltd and the Chester & North Wales Society of Chartered Accountants who have worked closely with us to help make a real difference to families across Cheshire and North Wales.”

The team at leading commercial insurance broker Risk Services (NW) Ltd have raised almost £10,000 for Children Today through a variety of fundraising events and activities including a golf day and rowathon. An annual gala dinner hosted by the Chester and North Wales Chartered Accountants at the Chester Grosvenor raised a further £2400 of much-needed funds for the charity.

Children Today provides funding for specialised equipment for children and young people with disabilities under the age of 25 but receives no government funding so is reliant on voluntary donations like these to keep providing these grants and making a positive impact to the lives of children. Ben continues:

“It’s fantastic to see Chester businesses getting so involved in helping support the local community – and that our successes have been recognised. Now we just hope we can reward everyone’s hard work and efforts by winning!”
