Tech firm lands contracts worth £4m following accreditation

A Sheffield IT firm has secured contract wins worth more than £4million after receiving an important international accreditation.

As a result of achieving the ISO 9001 accreditation mark, Millgate was able to join the Crown Commercial Supplier framework enabling the tech firm to bid on public sector work.

The ISO 9001 Quality Management System is the international standard organisations use to demonstrate their ability to ‘consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements’.

Following the accreditation, Millgate, based on Vantage Drive in Sheffield, has gone on to secure more than £4 million in public sector contracts including its largest ever order of £1.5 million.

Managing Director Chris Calvert said: “The ISO9001 accreditation was an important achievement as it is a seal of high customer service standard and best work practices.

“The accreditation has added gravitas to our status in the public sector and we’ve been able to develop into new markets and secure a lot of new business, not least of which our largest ever order to date.”

The firm, which is currently celebrating its 21st anniversary, recently conducted an anonymous staff survey which found 100% of participants either ‘liked’ or ‘loved’ working at Millgate.

More than 95% of the workforce said they were supported in their role and the same number of employees felt Millgate had a ‘good’ or a ‘great’ working atmosphere.

The company recently made the top three in a list of Sheffield’s top 10 tech firms closing in on £1 billion annual turnover compiled by Sheffield Hallam University.*

Millgate was also shortlisted in the ‘Best Company to Work for’ in technology trade magazine CRN’s Sales and Marketing awards in June and is one of CRN’s Top 100 list VARs – or Value-Added Resellers – in the country.
