Tech firm launches new sales mentoring programme

A Sheffield IT firm has launched a new sales mentoring programme to ‘attract, train, and deliver’ the next generation of sales professionals.

Millgate’s team of experienced account managers will deliver training, coaching and one-to-one mentoring to the new starters joining the programme.

The tech firm, currently celebrating its 21st anniversary, has created the programme following the success of its sales academy, which launched in 2015. Nine of the ten people taken on during the academy’s pilot year are still with Millgate today.

Lauren Kellow, a graduate of the Millgate academy who now works as a Strategic Account Manager at the firm, said: “The training increased my skills and focused me towards a career in IT and technology.

“It’s a fulfilling and rewarding option for anyone passionate about customer service and sales, as well as people looking to enhance their industry knowledge and gain valuable practical skills.”

Millgate’s sales academy originally took on ten people, who were mentored and managed as a team.

The new programme will involve one-to-one mentoring and coaching, and has welcomed two new starters so far, with a further two expected by the end of the year.

New starter Dale Meads (pictured) said: “I am enjoying the fast-paced environment and excited to learn – my Millgate mentor provides fantastic support.

“The programme is a great way to gain industry insight and pick up technical skills and experience.”

Managing Director Chris Calvert said: “The aim of the mentoring programme is to attract, train, and deliver the next generation of sales professionals for the Sheffield city region.

“Two years after our academy launched, nine out of the ten who started are still here and have added great value to our team. The new sales mentoring programme is the next step in our continued focus on skills development.

“We are now looking for people with sales experience, although not necessarily IT sales, to train in and learn Millgate’s working style and company ethos.

“Those that impress will have a chance of being taken on full-time after they have completed the programme.”
