All aboard – Europe’s Strongest Man comes to First Direct

Worlds Strongest Man

first direct is once again sponsoring the Europe’s Strongest Man event at the first direct Arena in Leeds on 1 April, but this year one of the most famous events – the bus pull – is being held down the road at first direct’s Stourton home.

The event features all the famous strong-man events – the car lift, the Atlas Stones, and the bus pull etc.

Five of the events will be held at the first direct Arena on the Saturday, but the bus pull will take place at first direct’s head office in Stourton earlier in the week.

To make sure the event runs smoothly, World Deadlift Champion Eddie Hall and current Europe’s Strongest Man Lawrence Shahlaei arrived in Leeds today for to test pull a vintage double decker bus as they gauged the level of difficulty for the competitors.

Zoe Burns-Shore, Head of Brand and Marketing at first direct, said: “It’s great for Leeds to host this event again as last year it was watched by 10,000 people live at the first direct Arena and then by over 2 million people on television at Christmas.

“We were delighted to be able to offer the use of our car park as a venue as Lawrence and Eddie tested the bus pull. Our car park is on a hill, but the guys made it look easy so we had to lend a hand and a few of us jumped on board the while they hauled it through the car park – not that it seemed to slow them down!”
