A North West accounting and business advisory firm has shown its support for a charity Christmas festival after the cause provided end of life care to members of its team.

The Preston team of Baldwins, a CogitalGroup company and one of the UK’s fastest-growing business advisory firms, were among 15 sponsors of St Catherine’s Hospice’s Christmas Festival, which took place on November 30th and December 1st.

The much-loved annual event, which has been held over the last six years in the grounds of the hospice at St Catherine’s Park, featured a fun fair, gift, food and craft stalls, live music, a Santa’s grotto and family-friendly games.

More than 2,000 people, including the Mayors of Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, attended the fundraiser to mark the beginning of advent, and helped to raise thousands of pounds to support local families affected by life-shortening conditions.

Louise Highton, Partner at Baldwins’ Preston office said: “Although Baldwins is a national company, our individual offices are very much local businesses and we want to play an important part in our communities and show our support to local events.

“A few years ago a couple of members of our team spent their final days in St Catherine’s and a large number of our team have had family members either use the outpatient facilities, or the end of life care, so it’s a charity very close to us, and we’re delighted to sponsor the festival this year.”

Emma Jacovelli, head of community engagement at St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall, said: “We were delighted to have Baldwins’ wonderful support for our fabulous Christmas Festival.

“Once again there was a fantastic, festive atmosphere! It was a fun-filled family event and a great way to kick start the Christmas celebrations, all while raising vital funds for our specialist palliative and end of life care provided at the hospice and in people’s own homes at this special time of year.

“We’d like to thank the team for their fantastic generosity in helping to raise funds for, and awareness of, our charity – we simply wouldn’t be able to continue offering care and support to local families affected like conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, and heart failure, without the amazing, continued support of our communities and companies like Baldwins.”
