An elf of a surprise for 8-year old Lola

A Yorkshire vehicle-hire company has surprised a local girl fascinated with Christmas elves as part of the firm’s festive campaign.

Eight-year-old Lola Radley from Leeds has had a keen interest with Christmas elves since she was young, something she inherited from her grandmother.

With the girl’s mother Keeley spotting and showing Lola her the firm’s festive vans, re-branded #arrowelfdrive as part of a Christmas campaign, she has been on the lookout for the branded vans, which feature little elf stickers to rebrand to Arrow Elf Drive for the season. Despite the company having 100 ‘elfed-up’ vans on the roads across Yorkshire, Lola didn’t manage to spot one in the run-up to Christmas, so the company decided to surprise her with a special visit to her home.

Lola’s mum Keeley, a single mother of three, explained:

“English is Lola’s favourite subject at school, and she got the play on words immediately; she thought it was clever and fun. I contacted Arrow Self Drive and told them about Lola’s love of elves and the fact that she loved their #arrowelfdrive. The company came back to me offering to visit Lola personally with one of their elf vans so she could see one in person. At the weekend they came to our house in an elf van driven by a driver dressed as an elf with a goody bag and a personalised elf for her. Lola and knew nothing about it and was absolutely thrilled; beside herself in fact. What a wonderful way to start her Christmas. The people at Arrow really went that extra mile to put a smile on my daughter’s face, it was a lovely gesture in the true spirit of Christmas.”

The company launched the campaign with a competition to share pictures of the vans, as well as people dressed as elves and using the company’s ‘elfie frames’ in order to win an Elf of a Shelf.

Arrow Self Drive’s Managing Director, James Hill said:

“We’re passionate about supporting communities across Yorkshire throughout the year and Christmas is a time when we like to go the extra mile to bring a smile to the faces of local people. We hope that Lola and her family have a wonderful Christmas and that our surprise helped make it even more magical.”
