George Povey has won the Best Construction Professional award 2019 from the North Wales LABC Building Excellence for his exceptional work at Tyddyn Bach in Holyhead.
The site manager received the award from the Isle of Anglesey County Council, who having worked with George on many occasions, was impressed by his determined and well organised managerial skills, particularly in regard to Health and Safety and levels of craftsmanship on site.
The award looks at an individual rather than a company, recognising and rewarding construction professionals from all areas who stand out by going above and beyond what is expected of them, ensure outstanding working relationships with the local authority are established and show a continued commitment to delivering excellent buildings.
George’s approach to inviting Building Control to site before any work commences, and regularly throughout the build process to update and discuss future plans, highlighted his determination to get things right first time and showcased his experience as a construction professional.
He was also praised for his handling of pedestrian routes at Tyddyn Bach, carefully overseeing work so that locals could continue to utilise the public pathways, as well as the site’s tidiness.
Highly regarded and respected by his team and sub-contractors, George is seen to be a ‘people person’ and held in high esteem by his peers.
