Baldwins hosts free seminars to help North East businesses prepare for Making Tax Digital

Baldwins’ Making Tax Digital seminar

A North East accounting and business advisory firm is offering free advice to local companies to help them prepare for the Government’s Making Tax Digital initiative.

Baldwins, a CogitalGroup company, which has 11 offices across the region, is hosting three seminars, from February 7th to 20th, at Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham, and Crathorne Hall Hotel, Yarm, and all local businesses are invited to attend.

Making Tax Digital will affect the way taxpayers deal with their tax affairs in the digital age and will come into force for many UK businesses on April 1st to make administration more effective and efficient.

It will be compulsory for the majority of VAT-registered UK businesses with an annual turnover above the current VAT threshold of £85,000 to record and send their VAT information to HMRC digitally using Making Tax Digital-compatible software.

During the seminars, Baldwins’ Software Solutions Partner, Andrew Rowe, will guide attendees through the new system and the key implications for business owners, along with the latest opportunities available with cloud accounting.

Andrew said: “Baldwins has been preparing for Making Tax Digital for the last two years and I’m looking forward to being able to pass on my knowledge and advice to the North East business community.

“The seminars are going to be a fantastic way for businessmen and women to learn about the initiative and ensure they, and their business, are fully prepared ahead of the changes in April.”

Baldwins’ Making Tax Digital seminars will run from 4pm to 6pm and attendees will enjoy drinks and a light buffet on arrival before a presentation and networking.

Places are limited and anyone who is interested in attending should register before February 6th via the Eventbrite website.
