Barratt Homes’ new development to boost Yorkshire economy by £13.4million

In a major boost to the Yorkshire economy, leading local housebuilder, Barratt Homes, has launched its Carlton Green development in the East Riding village of Carlton, situated between Goole and Selby, which will see the housebuilder construct 77 new homes, bringing in £13.4million to the local economy.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, announced plans to open 10 new sites in 2017, creating a total of 850 new homes across the region. The new sites will underpin 880 local jobs and 70 apprenticeships across East Yorkshire.

Linzi Bentley, Sales Manager at Carlton Green, said: “We’ve seen demand for new homes increase very quickly over the year and our new development near Goole will provide more choice for local buyers. It’s also great news for the local economy – in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned by building the new homes, people who move into the new housing will benefit from Section 106 contributions made by Barratt to the local area. We’re excited to see the new development taking shape over the coming months, and can’t wait to explore further ways in which we can get involved with the local community.”

Carlton Green is a lovely collection of two, three and four bedroom homes in the small, desirable village of Carlton, between Goole and Selby. Ideal for first time buyers and growing families, residents at Carlton Green will be able to enjoy good local schools, as well as handy commuter links into Doncaster, York and Hull. Selling from nearby Barley Fields, sales advisers are on hand to offer advice on options available to prospective purchasers.

The launch of the new development highlights the strength of the housing market, helped by the popularity of schemes such as the Government’s Help to Buy, while also going some way to addressing the much publicised housing shortage throughout areas of the UK. The popular Help-to-Buy scheme allows prospective homeowners to purchase a new property with just a 5% deposit.

Barratt Homes already has a number of successful developments in the region including Belle Vue in Doncaster, St Wilfrid’s Walk in Brayton and Fallows Park in Beverley. The homebuilder predominately employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen, meaning that local businesses and people will benefit directly from the jobs – in the 2015/16 financial year Barratt Developments supported 570 sub-contractor companies and 400 supplier companies.

Homes at Carlton Green are available from £154,995 and interested buyers can visit the Barley Fields development in Selby for more information.
