Barratt Homes sees rapid success due to Help to Buy scheme at Sunderland development

Barratt Homes’ Teal Park Farm development in Washington, Sunderland, has seen over 50% of properties purchased using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme over the last year, meaning an unprecedented number of people in the area are getting themselves onto the property ladder.

The site, which will have 305 homes once complete, has seen over half of the available released properties being snapped up, making Teal Park Farm a particularly successful development and highlighting the buoyancy of the housing market in the area.

Available homes currently available include The Amethyst, a two-bedroom property boasting an open plan living and kitchen area with quality fitted units. The first floor has one double bedroom, a single bedroom and a modern bathroom, with prices starting from only £99,995, making it ideal for first-time buyers.

Ashlea Wright, Sales Manager for Teal Park Farm, commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the levels of interest in Teal Park Farm. It has also been great to see the success of Help to Buy in the area as it really helps first-time buyers to get their feet on the property ladder. Purchasing a property such as the Amethyst is surprisingly affordable using the scheme and can mean monthly payments from as little as £230 with a deposit of just 5%. Many of our buyers have found their mortgage repayments significantly less than renting. I would advise anyone looking to buy a property to see what we have on offer.”

Teal Park Farm on Barmston Road offers a range of two, three or four bedroom starter and family homes in the heart of Washington, with easy access to the major networks such as the A19 and A1.
