Bellway has donated a defibrillator to Pioneer Fitness on Hawthorne Road in Bootle.
With its latest development St Wilfrid’s located immediately opposite, the leading housebuilder was pleased to donate the life-saving equipment to the award-winning personal training gym which is a popular part of the local community and used on a regular basis by some Bellway employees.
Defibrillators are an important piece of kit in an emergency and the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest increases dramatically if there is access to one while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Given that even the fittest and healthiest of people can suffer a sudden and unforeseen cardiac arrest, Pioneer Fitness gym owner Daniel Palmer was keen to install a defib and had started fundraising to buy one.
When the Bellway employees heard about the fundraising drive, they were keen to help; and thanks to a donation organised by office manager and PA to the managing director, Jeannie Mosedale, one is now in place.
“With the gym being so close to our new St Wilfrid’s development and Bellway encouraging us to improve our health and wellbeing since the lockdowns, many of us have been inspired to start training with the Pioneer Fitness team and are really enjoying it,” said Jeannie, “When we heard that Daniel was fundraising for a defib we knew that we could do something to help and were able to use funds from our community support budget to purchase one.”
Gym owner Daniel Palmer commented: “I am so grateful to Bellway for donating the defibrillator; it has been installed in the gym and is ready for any potential emergencies that might occur during training. Fingers crossed that we don’t ever need it, but it is very reassuring for my personal trainers and me to have it to hand as a little extra piece of protection for our gym users.”
Based on Alderman Road in Hunts Cross, Bellway North West is currently developing at desirable locations across Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire.
