The chairman of trustees at Stokesley’s Globe Community Library doors has cut the ribbon to officially open the town’s new branch of Newcastle Building Society.
Bob Roberts was guest of honour at a special event for customers and local residents at the new branch on Stokesley High Street, over the road from the Society’s previous branch in the town.
The new branch is designed to provide customers with better access to services, information and advice, as well as offering improved meeting spaces in which to discuss all aspects of personal financial planning, and is part of an ongoing multi-million pound investment programme across the whole of its branch network.
Local band Jump The Q provided the musical entertainment at the opening event.
Newcastle Building Society is more than halfway through an ambitious branch improvement programme which will see work on new or improved facilities in every part of its existing branch network, with new branches and community hubs being opened in a number of locations across the North East and Yorkshire.
Lynne Moore, manager at Newcastle Building Society’s Stokesley branch, says: “It was great to be able to share our official opening day with so many customers, and to be able to share what’s now on offer at their local branch.
“This sort of investment reaffirms the Society’s long-term commitment to its High Street presence by investing heavily in maintaining, enhancing and expanding a modern branch network.
“Bob is a real pillar of our community and we’re very pleased that he took the time to do the opening honours for us.”
