Bunkabin celebrates successful year with rise in revenue in construction, events and education sectors

Award-winning supplier of site sleepers and portable cabins Bunkabin is celebrating a successful year with increases in revenue year on year across multiple sectors.

The family-run business, which operates from its purpose-built factory in Oldham, saw a 30% increase in revenue in the events sector, a 10% increase in construction and a 5% increase in education. They also won a prestigious contract with the Ministry of Defence, providing 302 beds to Royal Navy sailors.

The company credits its growth to increased marketing efforts, including launching a brand new website and attendance to events, including Plantworx and the Showman Show. It also worked to increase its online presence, which resulted in a 30% increase in new visitors to the site in the last six months of 2017 compared to January to June.

Luke Rothwell, Director at Bunkabin, said: “The past few years have been ambitious for Bunkabin as we expand our facility and accommodation solutions to exciting new areas, while still providing the service Bunkabin has become renowned for. We are incredibly proud that all of the hard work we have put in has paid off.”

The brand’s success was officially recognised at Oldham Business Awards 2017 in the £5 million to £10 million turnover category. Last year also saw them celebrate 15 years of providing on-site accommodation to world-famous creative arts festival Glastonbury.

“We are delighted to have won Oldham’s Business of the Year and have had the opportunity to work with such a large, internationally-renowned festival for a decade and a half. Glastonbury requires an army of workers to ensure everything goes to plan, and we’re proud that Bunkabin plays an important role in that.

“We are a hard-working, family business and our efforts last year have helped to shape our success. The nature of our business means we get to work with all types of people, across many different industries. However, we are committed to our ethos of ‘treating customers how we would want to be treated’, meaning customers both old and new enjoy working with us.”

Bunkabin has been manufacturing and supplying single and twin sleeper units and other portables units, including dining, toilet and showering facilities, since 1998. It now has a fleet of more than 2,000 sleeper units with en-suite bathrooms.
