Carter Towler acquisition leads to business growth for Ashley Smith

Chartered surveyors Ashley Smith has gone from strength-to-strength since being acquired by Carter Towler, one of the largest and most successful independent chartered surveyors and property management companies outside London.

In addition to taking on three new members of staff, Durham-based Ashley Smith has seen its business grow by over 20 %in the last 12 months.

Commenting on the expansion, Lewis Smith of Ashley Smith said: “Joining forces with Carter Towler has really taken our business to the next level. We have had an incredibly busy year working together on their extensive portfolio of properties across the north but also with a significant number of new projects of our own.

“As well as being able to provide additional support to Carter Towler, they have been instrumental in strengthening and streamlining our business. The team here in Durham now works directly with the Leeds-based property management and accounts teams – having access to another 20 plus highly skilled colleagues has enabled us to really progress the business. We can be more proactive and I’m thrilled to say we are taking on new instructions as a direct result on a very regular basis.”

Founded in 1989 by Lewis Smith’s father Stephen, Ashley Smith has just appointed Building Surveyor Alison Jackson, commercial property apprentice surveyor Anna Docherty and office administrator, Joan Parker.

Between them, Carter Towler and Ashley Smith employ 55 people and together they are acknowledged as one of the most commercially active property companies in the North, Midlands and South East. Over the past 12 months the company has been involved in over 400 industrial, commercial and investment deals, and currently manages 4,500 properties for its clients nationwide.
