Cheshire recruitment agency celebrates UK and European Best Workplaces Award success

Cheshire-based management and leadership recruitment agency McCarthy Recruitment is celebrating phenomenal success in the highly coveted Best Workplaces ™ Awards. The company recently won the UK Award in the small business category for the second year running, and it has just taken second place across the whole of Europe.

McCarthy Recruitment, which has its headquarters in Warrington, learned of its UK success last month during the awards presentation evening at London’s Tobacco Dock. The win placed the company onto the European shortlist, with an invitation to attend the European awards ceremony in Stockholm’s City Hall in Sweden on June 5th alongside other European national winners.

The Best Workplaces Awards are run by the Great Places to Work ® Institute and are globally acknowledged to be amongst the most prestigious employer accolades, celebrating organisations who have consistently delivered excellence in people management and engagement. All companies who are put forward for consideration are independently and rigorously assessed, and must demonstrate a workplace culture built on trust and engagement and sustained by innovative people management practices.

McCarthy Recruitment was founded 14 years ago by Managing Director Kate McCarthy and initially focused on leadership and managerial recruitment in the retail sector. Rapid business growth led to the company expanding to recruit for additional sectors including leisure and hospitality, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. Since then, despite often challenging circumstances within the recruitment sector as a whole, the business continues to flourish.


Kate says, ‘Having won the Best Workplaces Award last year was incredible. But winning the UK award again this year then coming second across all of Europe is just amazing particularly given the backdrop of challenging times in the recruitment industry. We’ve had a really successful year which included winning a major contract with Sainsbury’s that had to be delivered within a tight time frame. My amazing team made a real success of it and demonstrated what an exceptional culture founded on trust and communication can deliver. That kind of people-centric approach is vital and I attribute much of our success to it. Having that sentiment recognised and endorsed for the second year running by the Best Workplaces Award is just fantastic.’

There are now plans in place for further business growth with the company holding an open evening aimed at anyone interested in finding out more about working for McCarthy Recruitment. The first drop-in event will be taking place at its offices on Thursday 13th June between 5-7 pm, with a further event planned on Wednesday 3rd July.
