ConferenceLeeds’ conference ambassador programme gathers momentum with Media Yorkshire link up

ConferenceLeeds has continued to champion the digital sector in the city, through a link-up with Media Yorkshire and Leeds Digital Festival. The collaboration comes as part of ConferenceLeeds’ conference ambassador programme, which aims to support industry leaders in bringing sector-specific conferences and events to Leeds.

With over 45,000 people in Leeds employed in the digital sector, 3,500 digital technology companies and over 5,000 STEM graduates annually, it’s clear that Leeds’ technology marketplace is vast and growing at an impressive rate. The link-up between ConferenceLeeds, Media Yorkshire and Leeds Digital Festival will see the three organisations working collaboratively to attract national and international conferences in the digital space.

Jennifer Young, Head of ConferenceLeeds, commented:
“During 2016 we placed a big focus on our ambassador programme and capitalising on our sector strengths in digital, healthcare, manufacturing and financial services to support us in bringing conferences to Leeds, so it’s fantastic to see this effort now paying off. Our recent move from the sixth to the fifth most popular conferencing destination according to the 2016 British Meetings and Events Industry Survey also highlights the hard work that is being carried out in Leeds to strengthen our delegate offering.

“The digital and technology sector is truly one of our strengths, with an estimated £3bn gross value added contribution, so we are very pleased to have the teams at Media Yorkshire and Leeds Digital Festival on board to showcase the talent and expertise that exists here. ”

Media Yorkshire is the industry-led organisation representing the creative, digital and marketing sectors across the region. The organisation brings together world-class firms and brands to support investment, employment and training. Leeds Digital Festival is a citywide celebration of digital culture, which is supported by Leeds City Council and TechNorth, the Government’s initiative to promote and support digital entrepreneurship.

Stuart Clarke, Director at Media Yorkshire, commented:
“The digital community in Leeds is thriving and is something we are always trying to showcase on a national and international stage. Becoming a conference ambassador with ConferenceLeeds means I can do exactly that, working with the team to utilise my contacts in order to create a network, with the ultimate aim of bringing more digital and tech conferences to Leeds. The 2016 Leeds Digital Festival saw 56 events across 28 venues, with over 175 speakers and over 6,000 attendees. This year’s festival is taking place from 22nd – 29th April and is set to be even bigger and better.”
