One of York’s largest hotels is celebrating the completion of the latest phase in an extensive refurbishment programme.

The Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre, which is located on the city’s riverside, has seen its ballroom and conference facilities upgraded to a high standard, including superfast broadband and video conferencing.

In particular, the hotel’s Henley Regatta Suite, which has capacity for up to 400 people, has benefited from a full refit that has brought the space up to date with the rest of the hotel while retaining its traditional feel and features.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s 12 flexible meeting rooms also have benefited from upgrades, which includes superfast broadband, video conferencing and modern audio-visual technology as standard, as well as individual air conditioning and adjustable lighting.

The hotel’s extensive conference facilities make it suitable to host everything from board meetings to large conferences and are complemented by a riverside bar and a restaurant, as well as 200 rooms.

The Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre has undergone a number of upgrades since a proposed £9m investment was announced, beginning with a £500k upgrade of business, meeting and conference facilities and a new restaurant.

The investment came after the hotel was crowned Carlson Rezidor Hotel of the Year, beating off competition from more than 400 hotels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The hotel’s general manager Sally Hughes says: “This investment not only shows how highly regarded we are here in York, but is also a huge investment in the city, which will see us become the next generation Park Inn – offering local businesses and visitors a truly world-class experience.

“The refurbishment of our bar and meeting area, with floor to ceiling windows giving guests unrivalled views of York, has attracted a lot of attention already. And so far, the reception to our updated facilities has been equally fantastic.”

Last year, the Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre was selected to feature the global Radisson hotel group’s first panoramic rooftop camera in the UK. The live video feed is available to view 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
