Council Leader breaks ground for Anwyl Homes in Prescot

The Leader of Knowsley Council, Cllr Andy Moorhead, has officially marked the start of build on a new residential development of 123 high quality homes in Prescot.

Known as Carr’s Rise, the £23m development is the first in the Liverpool City region for the Lancashire division of Anwyl Homes, and Cllr Moorhead was invited to visit the site and undertake the groundbreaking with regional managing director John Grime.

Helping to meet increasing demand for high quality new homes in the area, Anwyl will transform the nine acre site on Carr Lane with an attractive mix of two storey three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached homes set in beautifully landscaped grounds.

Formerly the Prysmian Cable Factory, the Anwyl site is part of the wider Prescot Park development; an exciting new project close to the centre of Prescot that will eventually comprise around 750 new homes and new public open space.

Managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, John Grime, commented: “We’re delighted to be on site at Carr’s Rise and to welcome Cllr Moorhead to the development. Work began very recently, but we’re making great progress and the foundations for the first properties, including the development’s two showhomes, are now in place.

“Prescot is a rapidly developing town that continues to attract investment. A fantastic place to live, it is popular with young professionals and families who appreciate its great mix of local amenities, everyday shops and services, leisure facilities and good commuter links. We’re pleased to be developing in the borough and are looking forward to introducing homebuyers in Prescot and beyond to our high quality new build homes.”

Cllr Andy Moorhead added: “I am delighted to welcome Anwyl Homes to Knowsley and to Prescot Park. This development will make a significant contribution to Prescot’s future forming a new and vibrant community within walking distance of the town centre. It’s great to see that work is now underway and I’m very pleased to mark the start of the build on site.

“This development is a key element of our regeneration and growth plans for Prescot and Knowsley, bringing new and significant investment into the borough which will see yet another brownfield site redeveloped.”

The first homes are expected to be occupied in August 2018.

Carr’s Rise is the first development by the recently established Lancashire division of Anwyl Homes, part of the award winning Anwyl Group. The development will take around four years to complete, with a sales presence and showhomes expected in the summer.
