The former police station on Manchester Road Street in Droylesden has been put up for sale and is due to go under the hammer along with more than 90 other properties and plots of land at Pugh’s property auction later this month.
A guide price of £125,000 to £150,000 has been set for the period red-brick-built police station, which covers more than 1,500 sq ft over two floors and stands on a 232 sq m site.
Pugh associate director Edward Feather said: “There’s been a great deal of interest in the site. Not only is it in a great location in the heart of Droylsden and with easy access to Manchester, it’s also a handsome building with a significant heritage and importance to the town.
“It would be great to see the old police station imaginatively redeveloped. Subject to gaining the necessary planning consent, there is a great deal of scope for a new use for the building and it could potentially become residential accommodation.”
