Eddisons team gears up for £5,000 for mental-health fundraising challenge

Eddisons director Joseph Fitzsimmons cycling to raise money for Mind

Eddisons’ 24-strong building and project consultancy team are pulling out all the stops this month in a mammoth effort to raise £5,000 for the Mind mental health and wellbeing charity, by the end of September

The colleagues, who are based across the firm’s Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Cambridge and Peterborough offices, are attempting to cover 2,000 miles by running, walking, swimming and cycling, with the aim of giving something back to people who are struggling with mental health difficulties and need support.

Eddisons director Joseph Fitzsimmons said: “While the focus has been on the devastating physical effects of covid-19, the pandemic has also created a national mental health emergency. Organisations like Mind are there for people who are struggling and it’s really important that fundraising efforts continue so that they can maintain that vital support and help for people who desperately need it.”

Joseph added: “This is an ambitious challenge for us to take on as a team. At the end of week one we have clocked up 360 miles, which leaves us with 1,640 still to complete over the next three weeks; that’s around 70 miles a day. But with team bike rides and walks we have scheduled over the next three weeks, we’re confident we will nail it and reach our £5,000 target.”

Last summer 13 colleagues from the firm’s building and project consultancy team raised over £5,000 for the charity by taking part in the Harrogate Triathlon event.
