Eston diner seeks new owners who are hungry for success

John Reeves, the Teesside-based entrepreneur behind the Pelican Jacks chain, is looking for a new owner for his latest business venture, Burgers and Puds in Eston.

Burgers and Puds, which is a build your own burger takeaway restaurant, locally sources gourmet burgers that are all gluten free. It was launched in 2017 and is on the market with business broker Hilton Smythe.

Customers can choose their burger and bun, add toppings and sauces, and create the perfect burger for them. If they’re still hungry afterwards, the restaurant also does hot and cold desserts, many of which are locally sourced.

The shop itself was previously a branch of Pelican Jacks, which has been refurbished with new kitchen equipment and American-style diner décor.

Gareth Smyth, Group Managing Director at Hilton Smythe, said: “Burger joints and takeaways are a great investment, as people love treating themselves to something tasty. The success of other good quality burger restaurants just shows that the demand is there for gourmet fast food. People want something fresh, up to date and a little bit different, which is exactly what Burgers and Puds offers.”

John Reeves, Owner of Burgers and Puds, said: “This is a brand new concept that we brought to Middlesbrough at the end of 2017. Customers want good quality food and an affordable price, which is what we offer. It’s a great investment for someone looking for a turnkey business that already has a fantastic reputation.

“I’ve worked with Hilton Smythe a couple of times selling businesses, and I’ve always found them to be very responsive to my enquiries, and very proactive in getting sales. I was happy to go back to them when I put Burgers and Puds on the market.”
