Expamet, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of expanded metal mesh, constructional fixing components and builders’ metalwork, is celebrating 130 years in business.
Trusted by generations of building and construction professionals across the UK, Expamet is marking the occasion by hosting a series of monthly Facebook competitions, with the chance to win £130 worth of prizes.
Graeme Miller Managing Director at Birtley Group, comments: “130 years is a huge milestone, which could not have been achieved without the continued support and loyalty of our customers. As way of thanks we are offering all our customers current and future the chance to win a £130 prize each month for the rest of the year, including tools, merchant vouchers and Expamet products.”
Originally established in Hartlepool in 1889 as the British Metal Expansion Company, which had the sole European rights for the manufacture of expanded metal mesh, mainly for use as reinforcement and lath in the rapidly expanding sector of concrete construction, the business grew and changed its name to Expamet.
Now part of the Birtley Group, the company behind some of the UK construction industry’s most trusted names, Expamet encompasses a wide range of products that are still designed and manufactured in the North-East.
Graeme, adds: “Our ongoing success is largely due to our team of highly skilled employees and their uncompromising approach to quality manufacturing and customer service. Thanks to them, we can look forward to continuing to champion UK manufacturing for many more years to come.”
Alongside Expamet, Birtley Group is also home to Birtley Lintels, Bowater Doors and Birtley Galvanizing. All four brands work side-by-side within the group, each continuing to develop and market its own well established range of products.
The overall Group structure brings widespread business efficiencies that allow the company to deliver even higher levels of customer service and market-leading value for money.
Birtley is the only lintel manufacturer to hot-dip galvanize after fabrication providing up to 50% more zinc protection than other approved coatings. Hot Dip Galvanizing to EN1461 offers superior corrosion protection and lifespan compared with pre-galvanized steel.
Bowater by Birtley aims to lead the market in terms of quality, performance, durability, design and cost effectiveness.
