Expamet, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of expanded metal mesh, constructional fixing components and builders’ metalwork, is celebrating 130 years in business.
Trusted by generations of building and construction professionals across the UK, Expamet is marking the occasion by hosting a series of monthly Facebook competitions, with the chance to win £130 worth of prizes.

Originally established in Hartlepool in 1889 as the British Metal Expansion Company, which had the sole European rights for the manufacture of expanded metal mesh, mainly for use as reinforcement and lath in the rapidly expanding sector of concrete construction, the business grew and changed its name to Expamet.
Now part of the Birtley Group, the company behind some of the UK construction industry’s most trusted names, Expamet encompasses a wide range of products that are still designed and manufactured in the North-East.
