Expanding specialist neurological care home opens dementia villa

Jane Webber, Registered Manager and Paul Smith, Director of Operations

North East based specialist neurological care home, Chase Park has opened an exclusive dementia villa which offers eleven dedicated care placements for individuals or couples living with dementia or related conditions.

Chase Park, renowned for its neurological rehabilitation services, has converted the pre-existing elderly care home building into what will be known as The Villa for residential dementia care.

The neuro centre has seen significant growth over the past few years and has recently appointed Director of Operations, Paul Smith. Paul has a wealth of experience having previously worked for some of the UK’s top care providers and has a background in dementia care. To achieve its growth ambitions, Chase Park are now recruiting a range of staff.

Director, Dr Niraj Brahmabhatt said: “Chase Park is at a very exciting stage in its developments, and we are delighted to have Paul on board who brings many years of top-level experience in the dementia field. As we open our new villa, we will be further growing our team and currently working on a recruitment drive to increase our care and nursing team.”

For additional safety and security, the new dementia accommodation is all ground floor and encompasses social living areas that look onto and lead out into the speciality designed Japanese style gardens, laid out using Feng Shui and incorporates a vibrant fishpond.

Operations Director, Paul said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the Chase Park team at such an exciting and flourishing time. The location for me is what sets Chase Park apart, being in an exclusive area of Whickham with beautiful oriental gardens as a centrepiece for the facility surrounded by tall, full, and matured trees, the grounds provide a sense of calm and serenity to its purpose.

“The dementia care will be based on the provision of strengths based, person centred care model and individualised and bespoke care plans will be produced using detailed life history (biographical) knowledge. This means the care provided will always be bespoke to the individual.”

Chase Park has also invested in new assisted technology for therapy and rehabilitation for service users. With facilities that have been specifically designed to be fully accessible, the centre boasts a fully equipped health club with hydrotherapy pool, gym area, café, beauty, and holistic therapy. An in-house hairdressing and barbering service has recently been introduced for residents and external clients.

CQC rated Good, Chase Park has been proactive in maintaining and providing the highest and safest levels of care, especially during the pandemic. Through its rigorous testing and covid procedures, Chase Park has had no cases of covid 19 since the pandemic began.

Centre Manager, Jane Webber said: “We are proud of our standards of care and strive to continuously maintain and improve our levels of care for residents. With a dedicated and passionate team, we have a real buzz at Chase Park, and we are looking forward to welcoming new residents.”

Dr Niraj Brahmabhatt added: “The intended final model for our small neuro village is to offer neurological rehabilitation, step down preparations for dwelling back into the community, long term care for those post brain injury or insult, residential type dementia care and two dedicated respite rooms and two exclusive end of life suites. The facility benefits from having a specialist neuropsychologist and therapy team on site. We also have dedicated specialist nurses and a suite of rehabilitation equipment and facilities unmatched outside the local NHS.”
