Hundreds of customer service advisors at EDF Energy, based at Doxford International Business Park, have come together to support a local food bank by taking part in a food drive.
The energy workers organised a collection for Sunderland’s Elim Foodbank, which raised a total of £204.00, along with food and toiletry donations.
The collection was organised by customer service advisors Carol Anne Woods and Allison Chisnall, who was recently recognised for her work with the project in the company’s ‘Going for Gold’ awards.
Alison said: “The food drive is a fantastic project which I’m very passionate about and I know it will be hugely beneficial to local families.
“We have supported the food drive in the past and thanks to everyone’s generosity, it was a big success – so we wanted to do another collection this year.”
Kevin Gatens, head of customer service at EDF Energy Doxford, said: “I’m always amazed by our customer service staff’s commitment to fundraising – both in the community and with our charity partner Breast Cancer Now.
“The project makes a big difference to local families and I’m very proud that this collection will help the charity continue to provide support to the families who need it most.”
Elim Foodbank, on New Durham Road in Sunderland, offers food supplies all year round and relies on the support of local schools, supermarket drop-off points, businesses and individuals to help those in need.
