Food safety

A North East specialist training company is ensuring food industry professionals in the region are ready to meet important new food safety standards.

With the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard Issue 8 now being embedded across the UK’s food industry, it is increasingly important for people working within the sector to have their training fully up to date.

As part of the BRC’s Global Standards Professional recognition programme, Stockton-based totrain is holding a number of training sessions to help people working in the industry fully understand the changes.

Working with different disciplines within the sector, totrain, one of the UK’s leading specialist food training providers, is hosting a series of training events ranging from one to five days. All courses are to be held in Darlington, County Durham.

A BRC Lead Auditor Course (five days) will be held in October, a one day BRC Conversion for Sites will be held in July, BRC Sites Training (two days) will be held in June and August and BRC Internal Auditor courses (two days) will be held in July and November.

Other courses to be held throughout the year include a one-day BRC Root Cause Analysis which will be held in May and October, BRC Risk Assessment (one day) which will run in July and November and BRC Validation and Verification (one day) in September and December.

There will be two opportunities for food sector professionals to attend an HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) training course run by totrain. This two-day courses will run in October.
