A specialist employment law firm has appointed four new members of staff to assist with its rapid growth.

Headed up by Managing Director, Jodie Hill, Leeds-based Thrive Law supports business owners and employees across the region to thrive in the workplace.

Having specialised in Employment and Discrimination Law, HR and Mental Health throughout her career, Jodie established the company to utilise her expertise to help businesses with a transparent and jargon-free approach. Jodie is also a keen ambassador for mental health awareness in the workplace and recently set up a political campaign, to ensure that every workplace has a mental health first-aider, which is gaining national traction.

The company has appointed three new team members in line with its recent expansion. This includes solicitor Imogen Hamblin, Beth Laws who joins as a paralegal alongside her master’s degree focussing in Employment Law (LLM), Emelia West is completing a work placement as marketing intern and Sonia Kullar also joins on a summer vacation scheme.


Commenting on the new appointments, Jodie Hill said:

“I am delighted to welcome Imogen, Beth, Emelia and Sonia to the Thrive team. Having launched the business earlier this year, it’s fantastic to be in the position to create jobs and provide work experience for the upcoming talent in the industry.

“I’m pleased to be able to work alongside inspirational young women, working hard to make a positive difference in workplaces across the region.”

With nine years of industry experience, Imogen Hamblin joins Thrive Law as a solicitor. Having qualified as an employment law solicitor from the University of Leeds in 2009, Imogen then met Jodie on the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School.

With the same passion for employment law and an aim to move away from the traditional law firm environment, Imogen shares Jodie’s ambitions to help create a modern and forward-thinking legal practice, offering personal and hands-on services.

Based in Nottingham, Imogen works remotely as part of the Thrive team, taking a lead on expansion into the midlands.

Speaking on her new role, Imogen commented:

“I am thrilled to be working is such a forward-thinking, modern law firm which is so different from the corporate environments in which have worked previously. Having known Jodie for many years, it’s great to now be working alongside her.”

Beth Laws has joined the Thrive team as a Paralegal alongside studying a Master of Laws at Leeds Beckett University. Originally from Grimsby, Beth was tutored by Jodie during the LPC and has a particular interest in the mental health awareness campaign.

Beth was also recently supported by Jodie to become a member of the Leeds Law Society Junior Lawyers Division Committee, a prestigious group in which trainee solicitors can support each other along their journey.

Emelia West also joins the firm as a marketing intern over summer, following her recent graduation from the University of Leeds with a degree in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion. Having attended Jodie’s former school, Pocklington school, Emelia will take responsibility for marketing and social media.

Sonia Kullar is completing a summer vacation scheme which will see her assist Thrive as a paralegal working on tribunal cases. Currently studying a degree in Law and Criminology at the University of Leicester, Sonia recently spent time in Shanghai on the Chinese Culture Programme at the Shanghai International Studies University.
