Glamping in the County of the Red Rose

It’s a first for the Ribble Valley in Lancashire – the UK’s leading glamping accommodation provider Wigwam® Holidays welcomes Ribble Valley Wigwams, opening 11th October 2017, located near the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Velvety green valleys and heather-clad moorland are just a stone’s throw away, all making for a beautiful Wigwam® site.

Site owners Martyn and Jane McDonnell faced some planning challenges before permission was granted for up to eight Running Water Deluxe cabins at Moorgate Farm, near Langho, near Blackburn.

The market towns of Clitheroe and Longridge are close by and there are regular bus services throughout the area.

Jane said: “We are just so delighted that our planning permission was granted and we got the ‘green light’ for our glamping business.

“The location is hard to beat; we even have Roman roads running through our site!

“As well as being in one of the lushest parts of the UK, we’re a 30-minute drive from the celebrated Fylde coast, which boasts Blackpool and its Pleasure Beach.

“For those who perhaps prefer something a bit more sedate, we have spectacular views of the mysterious Pendle Hill and the Ribble Way is close by. Not forgetting two very popular National Parks – the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District -which are a short drive away.”

The couple have had busy careers, with Martyn working in the food industry and Jane working in Human Resources.

Martyn said: “We both love camping, caravanning and that type of holiday. It’s been our dream to set up a site that means we can share our lovely part of the world with guests who also have great holiday accommodation to boot.

“We are now taking booking for our six, en-suite Running Water Deluxe cabins each accommodating up to a family of four.”

Ribble Valley Wigwams is part of the Wigwam® Holidays Franchise and is set to open on 11th October 2017.
