Growing Tech Community in Huddersfield Unites for First ‘Tech Exchange’

Northern Tech Events, organisers of meetups and conferences for technical companies, is hosting ‘The Tech Exchange’ on Thursday 30th May at Revolution de Cuba in Huddersfield. The event is believed to be the first of its kind in the town, aimed at supporting local tech businesses and start-ups.

Promoting the region’s technical capabilities, the tech community with links to Huddersfield and surrounding areas are invited to network and exchange ideas in an informal setting, with inspiring guest speakers discussing Start-up Culture and Tech Strategy.

Speakers will include Martyn Gould, Founder of yboo. yboo is a free-to-download mobile app that uses world-first technology to match consumers with the most accurate mobile phone deal for them based on price and signal strength in the areas where they live, work and hang out.

Martyn said: “We are really looking forward to The Tech Exchange, which promises to be an invaluable opportunity for the local tech community to come together to share expertise and ideas. As a Holmfirth-based company, we have a wealth of advice relevant to others in the region relating to all that we have learned on our journey from initial start-up to our current scale-up phase, with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline. By coming together with others in the industry we can best support and develop local talent and enhance innovation in the region.”


Rich McIntyre, Software Engineering Manager at DAZN, a live sports streaming subscription service described as “the Netflix of Sport” will also be speaking at the event. Having a strong software engineering background at the likes of Sky and the BBC, he will share how to create your own Tech Vision and leverage some of the best techniques and tooling in the industry.

Technical entrepreneurs, software specialists, Agile and digital delivery specialists and others with a technical background that are interested in digital innovation are invited to attend the free event, which will also include a complimentary bar and Cuban buffet.

The event will kick off at 5.30pm, closing at 9.00pm at Revolution de Cuba on Cross Church Street. It is sponsored by yboo and Huddersfield IT Search and Selection specialists Hotfoot Recruitment.
