A North East accountancy firm is marking a decade of growth after expanding its branch network and team.

Stuart Hall & Co was set up in 2009 by Stuart himself, and has since grown to 16 members of staff and three branches.

Stuart said: “I launched the firm from a bedroom at home, and we’ve grown organically since then.

“We’ve recently opened our Stockton office, and we’re building up a great team there to give our clients the best service in a location that suits them.”

The firm also has a head office in Bishop Auckland, which last year expanded to house the growing team, as well as a branch in the Scottish borders.

Stuart said: “In the past year, we’ve taken on an accountant and two apprentices – one in accounting and one in administration. We’re also planning to recruit another apprentice for the Stockton office very soon.

“We like to hire apprentices as we’re passionate about seeing people meet their potential; that’s how I started and it’s wonderful to help people get to where they want to be. Of our team of 16, three members of staff have done full apprenticeships, while a further four are working their way through the programme at the moment.”

Looking ahead to the next ten years, Stuart hopes to keep up the momentum, planning more recruitment and an expansion of the branch network.

He said: “We believe in the personal approach and having a network of smaller offices, as opposed to one larger base, fits in with that.

“Our growth to date has all been due to word of mouth, and we believe our personal approach, and investment in local talent, stands us in good stead for the future.”
