Newcastle-based, Activ Technology, has announced the appointment of Andy Shannon as head of communications.
With 20 years’ industry experience, Andy joins from Adept4 PLC where he was a pre-sales consultant.
Activ Technology, which employs 30 staff, is a managed service provider for IT and telecommunications and supplies services across the North of England and Scotland.
Andy, from Chester-le-Street, said: “I have a wide-range of sector experience having begun my career as a senior telecom engineer. Most recently, I was a pre-sales consultant at Adept4 PLC for 18 months and prior to that I was head of communications at Advantex Network Solutions, where I was for six years.
“At Activ, I have the opportunity to oversee and develop the communications side of the business and to grow the department by supporting the sales team when it comes to data, telecom or SIP technology.
“Activ has recently been awarded direct partner status with Mitel to which I have 18 years’ experience, helping organisations to simplify their business communications with cloud solutions. By becoming a direct partner it means we are at the cutting edge of technology with our customers benefitting from an interconnected network.
“My personal aim is to encourage growth through mentoring and I hold weekly workshops with our internal account managers to further develop their skill set and knowledge of integrated communications.
“Activ is a forward thinking company and my ambition is to help grow both the business and the team by making key appointments within our engineering and provisioning teams.”
Managing director, Ian Gillespie, said: “We are very ambitious and continue to develop. Andy is a strong addition to the team and that can only benefit our loyal customers. With every giant step forward, we will look to bring in exceptional talent who will not only add greater value to the range and quality of services we provide but will also inspire fresh thinking and innovation within Activ Technology, itself.”
