Headway Golf Day raises almost £10,000 for brain injury survivors

Headway Preston and Chorley’s annual Golf Day, which was sponsored by Fletchers Solicitors, has raised a staggering £9,500 for the brain injury charity.

The annual Headway Golf Day, which Fletchers Solictors has sponsored since it was launched by the Preston and Chorley branch in 2011, took place at the Hesketh Golf Club in Southport on 8 September 2017.

Twelve teams from local and national businesses took part in the golfing tournament and charity auction to raise much-needed funds for Headway, which provides support for people who have suffered a head or brain injury.

The day was rounded off with speeches from the team at Headway and Fletchers Solicitors thanking everyone for their support.

The money raised from the event will be used to fund the Headway services and ensure that head injury sufferers continue to receive the necessary support needed after discharge from hospital.

Liz Bamber, project manager for Headway in Preston, said: “On behalf of the staff, volunteers and clients of Headway Preston and Chorley, I would like to thank all the businesses that took part in the event to help raise money, and Fletchers Solicitors for its ongoing support.

“We are delighted that £9,500 has been raised for our charity by our friends and colleagues at Fletchers. Over the last seven years, the annual Golf Day has raised a huge amount of money for our small charity. We would not be able to help the number of people that we do without the firm’s charitable work through fundraising, legal advice or administrative support. The team is there for us continuously and this enables us to be there for brain injury survivors and their families when they need it the most.”

Sarah Charnley, a solicitor at Fletchers Solicitors and chairperson for Headway Preston and Chorley, said: “I am delighted that we have managed to raise a fantastic amount on our sixth annual golf day. A big thank you goes to everyone who attended the event and to Hesketh Golf Club, who again provided such wonderful hospitality.

“We have sponsored the event every year since 2011, and have been firm supporters of Headway for many years. We work with many clients who haved unfortunately suffered serious brain injuries, so we are committed to supporting the excellent work that the charity does to help these people get their lives back on track. We will continue to offer our assistance to Headway to improve the services available to those who have suffered a brain injury.”
