Heald’s Matador sliding bollard shortlisted for counter terror award

Heald’s patent-protected sliding bollard system, the Matador 6

Heald Ltd, the Yorkshire based manufacturer of hostile vehicle mitigation systems which protect some of the world’s most high profile buildings and crowded places from vehicle attacks, has been shortlisted in the 2019 Counter Terror Awards.

Heald’s patent-protected sliding bollard system, the Matador 6, has been shortlisted in the Perimeter Protection category of the Counter Terror Awards. The awards are staged to recognise the efforts of organisations in both the public and private sectors and their contributions to counter-terror strategy in the UK and overseas.

The Matador 6 is the latest product to join Heald’s Matador range which has revolutionised the perimeter protection market. Heald’s Matadors are crash tested to various international standards and can be installed in locations where even shallow excavation is not an option. The Matador 6 consists of two fixed bollards either side of four central sliding bollards. This setup allows for wider openings for large vehicles, or to accommodate for tight turning circles. It is also available as part of Heald’s new electromechanical range, which has many additional benefits, including using up to 80% less electricity to operate.

The shortlist follows a win for Heald at last year’s Counter Terror Awards, where the Matador 4 also won the Perimeter Protection Award. Heald’s Matador range has also recently been granted a US Patent to go alongside their GB Patent following success in the US market which has seen Matador’s installed to protect the historic French Quarter in New Orleans, famed for its Mardis Gras celebrations.

The Counter Terror Awards are set to take place on Tuesday 5th March during the Security and Counter Terror Expo. Lord John Reid will host the ceremony alongside a champagne reception and three-course dinner.

Commenting on the award shortlist, Managing Director Debbie Heald MBE added: “We are once again delighted to have our commitment to innovation recognised by the Counter Terror Awards. The Matador 6 is an excellent addition to our latest ranges and demonstrates Heald’s commitment to innovating to the demand and needs of the perimeter security market.”
