“Health-check your website now to maximise Easter sales” says digital marketing expert

A digital marketing and ecommerce expert is urging SMEs selling online to check that their website is search engine optimised in order to drive sales over the Easter trading period.

Scott Brant, operations director at Vizulate Digital, is encouraging business owners to ‘health check’ website elements including mobile optimisation, loading speed, external links and keyword optimisation to avoid missing out on a predicted increase in traffic over the holiday weekend.

He said: “Over 60% of consumers click through to one of the first three websites that is presented to them in the results of a Google search and 75% never go beyond the first page of the search results.

“It is vital that businesses, particularly those selling online, ensure their website’s search engine optimisation is addressed now in preparation to give them the best chance of securing those all-important clicks and sales over the Easter trading period.”

He continued: “SEO is one of the most important, yet most overlooked, considerations of a website. Being on the first page of Google for target keywords significantly increases the traffic to a website, but there are a number of SEO best practices that need to be implemented in order to maximise a website’s ranking.”

Mr Brant said that quick wins can include fixing any broken links within your site, optimising existing pages by employing SEO best practice on page title tags, and setting up local business listings such as Google My Business.

Vizulate Digital is also providing complementary SEO audits for businesses looking to ready their website ahead of the Easter sales period.

He added: “They can simply input the top ten keywords or phrases their customers might use to find their products, and we’ll provide a checklist highlighting the most important items to action on their website.”
