Amidst his work transforming lives and building brighter futures for those in need, Adeem Younis, entrepreneur and Chairman of charity, Penny Appeal, will discuss the excellent opportunities that exist for university students within the district’s charity sector, when he headlines at Wakefield Bondholders first Friday on 6th October at Wakefield College.
Alongside the poverty relief that Penny Appeal provides across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, education is one focus that not only aids and empowers communities around the world, but also benefits those closer to home. Through collaboration with Wakefield College, Adeem hopes to enhance the futures of young people across the district.
Adeem comments: “My work with Penny Appeal has reinforced how important education is for young people, not only in countries that are considered to be poverty-stricken, but in the UK too. Giving the next generation the chance to become self-sufficient brings the promise of a stronger, more stable economy and, being a proud former Wakefield College student myself, it’s something that I’m keen to support within the district.”
As well as addressing his own personal and professional journey from college and work experience, to the position that he now holds as a successful businessman and charity chairman, Adeem will share insights into the ongoing development of Penny Appeal as a lifeline for communities in need.

Joining Adeem as speakers at the event will be Adrian Spawforth, Chair of Wakefield Bondholders; Claire Hagerup, Director of Higher Education at Wakefield College, who will discuss the future of university education in the district and Fran Parkinson, Enterprise and Innovation Hub Operations Manager for Leeds Beckett University, who will introduce the new business centre. The event will take place in Wakefield College’s new Advanced Skills and Innovation Centre, (ASIC), on the 6th October from 8.45am. The charge for the event will be £10 and includes a breakfast of locally sourced hot sandwiches, fruit and vegetarian options along with tea, coffee and fresh orange juice.
