Karen Robinson Joins EAU as Regional Director

A lean process specialist whose career spans high level politics and leadership roles in the energy sector has joined Energy Assets Utilities (EAU), one of Britain’s most innovative utilities network construction businesses.

Karen Robinson has been appointed Regional Operations Director at EAU’s Leeds office in West Yorkshire, having moved to the company from Northern Gas Networks, where amongst her achievements was the development and implementation of an award-winning customer service strategy.

Prior to entering the world of utilities, she worked in Westminster for two secretaries of state and in the Prime Minister‘s office, and then moved into the private sector, where her passion for lean process improvement, project management and customer service came to the fore. Karen helped found and develop a stand-alone facilities management business for a multi-utility design company, before moving to Yorkshire Water as Head of Developer Services and then onto Northern Gas Networks as Head of Connections.

“I wasn’t looking for a change, but what really came through when I started talking to Energy Assets Utilities was their passion and huge ambition for the business,” said Karen. “There is a fantastic sense of teamwork within the company, and I am very much looking forward to applying my process management skills and customer service experience to help fulfil the Group’s exciting plans for the future.”

Craig Topley, Energy Assets Group Managing Director (Construction) commented: “As Britain moves towards a low carbon and decentralised energy system, there will be significant opportunities opening up for Energy Assets Utilities and we are delighted to be attracting people of the calibre of Karen to help turn our vision for the business into reality.”

EAU provides multi-utility connection services, comprising the design, construction and maintenance of gas, electricity, fibre and water networks across Britain for both residential and industrial and commercial developments. In addition to Leeds, the company operates from centres in Northampton, Sheffield, Cardiff, Livingston and Stirling.
