Kirby Building Legal Career With Hay & Kilner Commercial Property Team

Kirby Owens of Hay & Kilner Law Firm

Kirby Owens is starting to construct the next stage of her legal career after joining North East law firm Hay & Kilner’s award-winning commercial property department.

She has taken an associate solicitor position at Hay & Kilner’s Newcastle office and is now working with a range of North East developers and commercial landlords.

Kirby took both her law degree and Legal Practice Course qualification at Northumbria University.

Since completing her legal training, she has specialised in the commercial property sector, working with various well-known national and regional businesses on a wide range of different landmark developments.

Kirby Owens says: “Commercial property has always been an area of the law that’s appealed to me and I’ve enjoyed the work I’ve done so far in my career on some high profile schemes both within and outside the North East.

“Hay & Kilner is very well-regarded within the legal community, particularly for commercial property work, and I’ve come across several members of the team during my career, so I was naturally very interested in the firm when I was looking for my next career move.

“There are lots of chances to work with and learn from the partners here, and I’m really enjoying being part of the very friendly Hay & Kilner team.”

Established in 1946, Hay & Kilner is one of North East England’s leading independent law firms and provides a full range of legal services to businesses and individuals from both within and outside the region.

Its commercial property team was chosen as the winner of the Property (Commercial) category in the 2018 Northern Law Awards.

Nicola Tiffen, partner and head of the commercial property department at Hay & Kilner Law Firm, adds: “The range of different projects that are being built around the North East shows how dynamic the region’s commercial property sector is at the moment.

“Demand for our services has been continuing to grow as a result and bringing a highly-capable lawyer like Kirby onto the team gives us the capacity to keep providing our clients with the specialist support they need to underpin their business operations.”
