Kirklees Year of Music 2023 to host networking event for local music industry

Kirklees Year of Music 2023 and the Gainshare programme will be hosting its first networking event for local residents working in the music and entertainment industry, to discuss the impact of the pandemic and plans for the future.

The event, which will be taking place at the Lawrence Batley Theatre Cellar Bar on the 12th November, is open to anyone working in the industry – from venue owners to artists and local music teachers. It is the first networking event since the launch of the Kirklees Year of Music programme, which took place on 22nd September.

The Year of Music team will also be presenting plans for their music industry programme, support for the industry and support from other areas of Kirklees Council.

After a programme of talks to discuss funding opportunities, training and apprenticeships and employment opportunities available, attendees will have a chance to network with other employees in the music industry.

Sarah Hutton, Music Industry Coordinator at Kirklees Year of Music said: “The industry has been one of the worst affected by the pandemic, and as the sector begins to open up and venues welcome artists and customers through their doors, we want to be sure they feel equipped to start the new year strong.

“We are looking forward to hearing from our great lineup of speakers and hosting our roundtable to discuss the biggest concerns facing the industry and planning a roadmap to recovery”.
