Lakes artisan food business Hawkshead Relish have been shortlisted as a finalist for The British Business Awards, in the ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’ category.

The British Business Awards event, now in its fourth year, is the leading celebration of the UK’s small business sector, recognising the nation’s best sole traders, micro businesses and small companies – as well as the services providers and advisers that support them.

There were over a hundred nominations in the ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’ category and Hawkshead Relish have been shortlisted in the top seven.

The independent panel of judges made up of leading entrepreneurs and industry luminaries; including the likes of Kerrie Gordon of Lloyds Banking Group, Penny Power OBE of The Business Café and Ben Towers Steering Group Advisor with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), evaluated each business in turn against a series of stringent criteria, examining those who have created a product or service that has helped change the business sector they are involved in.

The winners of The British Business Awards will be announced at a special gala ceremony, which will be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, on 30 October.

Maria Whitehead, co-owner and director of Hawkshead Relish commented: ‘’We are thrilled to be shortlisted in the ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’ category for our Black Garlic range. The range has so many diverse uses, in any number of possible dishes, so much so, they really should be a staple for any home cook’s larder, adding interest and flavour to mealtimes.’’
