Leading housebuilder supports the local area with new employment opportunities

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East

Leading housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson homes brands, is creating multiple employment opportunities across the East Coast, following new sites in Whitby and Cayton.

Abbey View, the new development in Whitby, will consist of 233 homes, spanning a collection of two, three and four bedroom homes in order to meet the change in house buyers’ behaviour in a post-pandemic world. The housebuilder is also supporting the area with a £124,000 off-site sports contribution.

Another upcoming development within the Cayton area, St John’s View, will offer 96 homes, including a mixture of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes in a range of sizes and styles.

Both of the new housing developments will not only provide high quality homes within the Whitby and Cayton area, but will also create a variety of employment opportunities for local tradespeople, including in areas of bricklaying, joinery, sub-contractors and more.

To support local tradespeople, Barratt Developments is hosting a Meet The Builder’s drop-in event at The Penny Hedge in Whitby on Wednesday 4th May, 9am – 12pm. The event will highlight the multiple employment opportunities that will be available for tradespeople within the local area, and provide a platform for those who are interested to ask any questions.

Ben Waines, Contracts Manager at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “With two new developments coming to the local area, and the opportunity for jobs further afield in Scarborough and Bridlington at a later stage, we’re looking forward to offering career openings to tradespeople within the local area. We hope that our Meet The Builders’ event will offer local people a chance to ask any questions they may have regarding the available positions, and we welcome all those who are interested to attend.”
