Leading Yorkshire manufacturer throws spotlight on community partnership at Backing Britain event

Manufacturer of speciality soap bases and natural ingredients, Stephenson, is hoping to secure additional businesses support with an innovative youth focussed charity through its participation in a virtual exhibition.

The Yorkshire-based manufacturing business is using the Backing Britain event along with a virtual exhibition stand to showcase its partnership with youth charity called OnSide – an organisation set up to provide recreation and support services to children and teenagers through dedicated centres across the north of England. The charity plans to open additional facilities across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, but needs additional commercial partners to make this happen.

Backing Britain Live 2020 is a two-week business festival run by the Made in Group. Originally scheduled to be held at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, the need for social distancing has meant this event has now been transformed into a first of its kind virtual exhibition. The event runs until 28 August.

Featuring keynote speeches from industry leaders such as CEO of Gardner Aerospace Dominic Cartwright and CCO of Brompton Bicycle Stephen Loftus, alongside networking areas and over 160 manufacturing exhibitors, the aim of the event is to promote, inspire and share best practice within UK manufacturing.

As one of the world’s leading innovators and manufacturers of soap bases and natural ingredients for the personal care and cosmetics sector, Stephenson works with some of the leading brands in the industry. Having won two queens awards to industry, Stephenson’s reputation for excellence throughout every stage of the manufacturing process is unprecedented.

Richard Musgrave, Stephenson marketing manager commented: “As a fifth-generation family-owned business, Stephenson has always established links in the community it works in. We have created a strong partnership with OnSide and participating in this groundbreaking virtual event allows us to capitalise on technological innovation to drive awareness of the fantastic work Onside does in instigating existing youth facility plans across the region and in helping to deliver new sites, such as in Grimsby. We also hope to drive new supporters, including some of the UK’s outstanding manufacturing businesses, to this charity.”

Launched in 2009, Made in Group is a private manufacturing network for the UK, which now contains 600 UK manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover, Liberty, Moog, Fanuc and Siemens.
