gym chain Xercise4Less nominated for health club operator award

Xercise4Less, the leading budget gym chain, has been nominated for a prestigious ukactive Flame award.

The Leeds-based company will contend for the Health Club Operator of the Year award, going head-to-head with country club fitness provider The Club Company.

The Flame Awards will take place Wednesday 28th June at the International Conference Centre in Telford, as part of ukactive’s Flame Conference.
The ukactive Flame Awards are the largest celebration of innovation and excellence from across the sector, with hundreds of organisations vying for the highly-coveted accolades every year.

The Health Club Operator of the Year award is the most sought-after of these and the nomination of Xercise4Less is in recognition of the organisation’s performance over the past year, which saw the gym operator open its 47th site.

Xercise4Less was founded by ex-rugby player, Jon Wright, when his initial attempt to start a health club stalled during the credit crunch, and now employs more than 700 people and has more than 325000 members across the UK.

The popularity of its low cost memberships, which start at £9.99 a month, means the gym chain plans to have 60 gyms in the UK by the end of 2017 and over 500,000 new members.

Founder Jon Wright commented on the nomination: “To be nominated by ukactive for their coveted Flame Award for Health Club Operator of the Year is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the hard work of all of those at Xercise4Less.

“We are committed to encouraging people across the UK to live more active, healthy lifestyles and to be recognised in this way for our work is a huge honour.”

Xercise4Less now boasts 47 clubs across the UK and has 325000 members, with 13 clubs to launch by the end of the year.
