Leeds MEP John Procter To Lead Brexit Roundtable Event In Leeds Supported By Accountancy Firm Garbutt + Elliott

Leeds

Businesses in Yorkshire are being offered the opportunity to attend a roundtable with John Procter MEP to discuss issues around Brexit, at an event on July 12, 2017, supported by Yorkshire accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott.

The event takes place at the Malmaison Hotel, Swinegate, Leeds from 3pm to 6pm. It will provide businesses with an involvement in European Union trading an insight into what the future may hold.

Company owners and directors will be able to participate in a roundtable discussion with John Procter, MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, helping to shape the future direction of Brexit. Experts from accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott will also be on-hand to debate the challenges and opportunities faced by the prospect of the UK’s exit from the EU.

The event will also see discussions around the key messages the UK government should be taking into Brexit negotiations from a business perspective and how companies will be able to provide feedback during the process.

John Procter MEP said: “As the local MEP, hearing the concerns of companies and businesspeople from the region will be helpful in understanding what type of questions to raise in Brussels and Strasbourg while the Brexit terms are being deliberated, especially as the final say on Brexit will come from the European Parliament.”

John currently sits on the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) in Brussels after becoming an MEP in December 2016, following time as a councillor in Leeds.

Commenting on the event, Garbutt + Elliott partner Simon Palmer said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event, which will provide business leaders with the opportunity to join the discussion about the opportunities and challenges Brexit may present with a current MEP.

“The negotiations surrounding the UK’s exit from the European Union have been raised frequently as a significant concern for several businesses in our region, particularly those trading with European nations. This event will provide the opportunity to raise these issues and debate what the future holds.”
