Leeds online pharmacy wins Amazon Growing Business of the year prize

Pharmacy2U winning team scoops gong

Pharmacy2U, the UK’s largest online pharmacy, has picked up the coveted Amazon Growing Business of the Year prize in a ceremony at The Brewery in London.

The company beat off tough competition from various sectors in the Mid-Sized category to win the award recognising a phenomenal period of growth. Over the past 12 months it has grown its customers by 212%, with 32,000 new patients registering a month on average to make it the fastest growing pharmacy group in the country.

The awards are in their 20th year and recognise the best of UK enterprise talent with previous winners including LOVEFiLM (now an Amazon company), Zoopla, Revolut, and Innocent Drinks.

Pharmacy2U was set up in 1999 with a heritage in traditional pharmacy, and has grown to become an online-only service on a mission to improve patient outcome in partnership with the NHS.

Earlier this year it secured a £40 million investment to continue fuel its innovation, further improve the patient experience and drive the development of the technology that is helping to transform healthcare. Its technological expertise means it can arrange and deliver NHS repeat prescriptions to patients’ doors for free, saving them time and money and saving GPs hours on paperwork each week.

It is currently dispensing over 500,000 items of medicine each month, and a new state of the art dispensing facility will increase its capacity to 7.5 million medicines, allowing it to meet the demand of its growing customer base of over 300,000 users.
The company is headed up by CEO Mark Livingstone, who disrupted the home entertainment category as a co-founder and CEO of LOVEFiLM and the home food industry as a founding investor of Graze.
