Leeds team in the running for national legal award

A newly-established team of legal experts in Yorkshire, is in the running for a prestigious industry award. Surrey-headquartered ESPHR announced the appointment of four Leeds lawyers only a matter of weeks ago. And now the company’s law firm has its sights sets on national recognition.

ESP Law is one of only four UK organisations to reach the finals in the Personnel Today Awards’ inaugural Employment Law Firm of the Year.

The news comes after judging panel scrutiny of the team’s performance, innovation and customer service levels over the past 12 months. But the overall winner will not be revealed until the glittering ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 21 November.

With the awards being likened to the ‘Oscars’ of the HR world, the shortlist announcement is sure to have delighted all companies highlighted in the finalist roll call. But as ESPHR’s founder Pete Byrne elaborates, the success is especially celebratory for his team.

“We’re not just the only dedicated employment law specialist that has been nominated,” he explains. “We’re also the only Alternative Business Structure (ABS) law firm in the category. We’re therefore delighted to represent ABS organisations nationally.

“The shortlist reinforces our mission to transform expectations and help busy HR professionals make a real commercial difference to their organisations.”

The Personnel Today Awards news follows ESPHR’s nomination at The Law Society Awards for Excellence in Client Service in 2016. But all eyes are now on the 2017 event to see if the team will achieve the independent endorsement it has been striving towards.

Pete concludes: “We set out to deliver a game-changing approach to how HR teams and employment lawyers work together. To scoop the award on 21 November would be the ultimate confirmation that our new model law firm delivers exactly what visionary HR leaders are looking for.”
