Leeds Shopping Centre Unveils New Children’s Play Area

Leeds’s White Rose Shopping Centre has unveiled its brand new children’s play area this week, with the ribbon cut by White Rose General Manager Steven Foster, Cllr Lisa Mulherin, and children from Asquith Primary School.

The play area, which includes a canopy for rain-or-shine play, makes up the final component of The Village, White Rose’s new leisure extension. The Village is part of a £25m investment into White Rose by its owner, Landsec, and comprises five restaurants, an 11-screen Cineworld with IMAX, an outdoor events space, and now a children’s play area.

The outdoor space also forms part of a smoke free area as part of Leeds City Council’s Clean Air Leeds ambition, with White Rose working alongside Child Friendly Leeds to make this a reality.

Steven Foster, General Manager of White Rose Shopping Centre, said: “We’re delighted to open our new play area, which will surely be the jewel in the crown of The Village in the eyes of our younger visitors.”

“The play area was developed following meetings with local residents and focus groups, and alongside our work with Clean Air Leeds to create a smoke free area, we’re sure it’s going to be a real crowd pleaser.”

The play area can be found in The Village at White Rose and is suitable for children up to the age of 11.
