Local food and drink lovers surprised by undercover shake shack

Visitors to an artisan shake shack at Harewood’s popular Great British Food Festival this Bank Holiday weekend were pleasantly surprised as they tasted a range of delicious smoothies, shakes and mocktails, which were later revealed to form part of The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan.

Disguised as an artisan brand ‘The One Shake Shack’, the long-standing meal replacement brand kicked off a campaign which aims to dispel the common misconception that, when trying to lose weight or incorporate a low-calorie diet into your lifestyle, food and drink options are automatically limited to less appealing alternatives.

All of the drinks served at ‘The One Shake Shack’ were made using The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan’s range of products. A mixologist expertly created a menu of delicious mocktails incorporating the brand’s unique water flavourings: raspberry & elderflower, watermelon, and lemon & lime. Each vibrant mocktail provided a taste of summer to ensure festival attendees were fully in the Bank Holiday spirit!

Visitors were also treated to creamy chocolate mint and strawberry shakes as well as fruity cherry & strawberry and blackcurrant & apple smoothies.

Each drink was served with fresh fruit, with some of the brand’s delicious bars and bites available to try – all of which remained ‘on plan’ for the brand’s diet guidelines at around 200 calories. The products are all nutritionally balanced and provide all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed – even more so than some traditionally ‘healthy’ meals such as salads or soups.

The drinks looked and tasted so premium, visitors were fooled into thinking that The One Shake Shack was the latest artisan brand to launch into the shakes and smoothies market. Tasters were pleasantly surprised when they discovered the drinks were in fact created by The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan in disguise and are all part of its popular plan, which sees dieters replace meals with its products and lose weight with the help of a personal consultant.

Mark Gilbert, Nutritionist at The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, said: “There will always be the misconception that being on a diet means you have to suffer from flavourless or unappetising food and drink. We wanted to demonstrate that this simply isn’t the case, and that our menu of products don’t just taste and look delicious, but can easily be incorporated into an everyday lifestyle.

“Summer is fast approaching and, with barbecues and picnics in abundance, it can be easy to overindulge. The drinks served at Harewood’s Great British Food Festival can all be easily made at home with everyday ingredients. As they taste delicious, you really won’t feel as though you are restricting yourself while enjoying time with friends and family – and on our plan, you have your own personal consultant who can keep you on track.”

Christine James, Marketing and Communications Director, added: “The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and we couldn’t be prouder to have helped millions of people reach their personal goal, whether it’s losing weight or incorporating a healthier diet into their everyday lives.”
