Residents of Fleming Court with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Newcastle

HC-One’s Fleming Court care home in Jesmond was delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Newcastle to the home for its highly-anticipated wine and cheese tasting event.

Residents at Fleming Court were delighted to be joined by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor David Cook, and his Lady Mayoress for an evening of sampling the city’s finest selection of wines and cheeses.

Newcastle & Northumberland businesses joined forces to help make the evening a success. Michael Jobling Wines supplied eight exclusive wines for guests to sample throughout the evening whilst discussing the principles of cheese and wine matching, all accompanied by a carefully paired fine Artisan cheese which were kindly donated by Doddington Dairy.

The evening proved to be a huge success, with a £45 sale from the cheeses being donated to the Fleming Court Residents’ fund.

The Lord Mayor said: “”It was a pleasure to attend a wine and cheese event with residents of Fleming Court recently. The Lady Mayoress and I were very impressed with the standard of provision. We were pleased to meet many residents there obviously benefitting from it and enjoying the camaraderie amongst themselves.”

Julie Baron, Home Manager at Fleming Court, said: “Our wine and cheese night was thoroughly enjoyed by our Residents and all guests who attended, including the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.

“At HC-One, we are committed to working with and supporting our local community, so we were delighted that we could promote successful Newcastle and Northumberland businesses such as Doddington Dairy and Michael Jobling Wines at our event.”

Following the wine and cheese evening, Residents are already looking forward to welcoming guests to its next big event on Friday 28th June; Care Home Open Day, where Fleming Court will be hosting an exciting art competition, accompanied with live entertainment throughout the day.

Located on Burdon Terrace, Fleming Court offers short and long term care packages for older members of the community needing residential and residential memory care.
