Manchester’s Bookey Clothing partners with local charity to support mental health

Together T-shirt

Manchester-based fashion brand, Bookey Clothing, is donating 50% of profits from sales of their new Together T-shirt to Moodswings, a local charity supporting people with mental health problems.

The limited edition Together tee has been designed by Bookey designer and director, Akeem Gordon. His inspiration for the design came from his own experience with anxiety. The locked hands represent togetherness and are intended to serve as a reminder that as well as being your own strength there are always others who can offer support, such as family, friends and charities like Moodswings.

Akeem Gordon of Bookey Clothing said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Moodswings – an incredible charity which is very close to our hearts. Where I grew up we didn’t talk about our feelings, so I founded Bookey Clothing as a way of channelling my thoughts and energy into something positive. Creating designs and growing the business has kept me on a positive journey and helped me to control the down days.

“It’s fantastic to know that the money raised from our Together tee will help people across the north west to live happier and fuller lives through Moodswings’ work.”

The discussion around mental health has become more mainstream in recent years, but the statistics remain shocking. Around one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and suicide is the most common cause of death in men aged between 20 and 49 in England and Wales.

Linda Wilson CEO of Moodswings said: “We are extremely grateful to Bookey Clothing for choosing to support Moodswings. As a small local mental health charity, we appreciate all the support we can get and we look forward very much to working together on this project.

The Together tee is available to purchase for £35 in unisex sizes S-XXL and in Women’s fit S-XL on the Bookey Clothing website. 50% of the profits from the first six months of the T-shirt sales will be donated to the charity.
