MCJ Fabrications complete metalwork for MD’s former College in Dewsbury

An Architectural Metalwork company, MCJ Fabrications based in Liversedge on Union Road, has returned to Kirklees College, where the Managing Director Mick Fortune and Experienced Draughtsman Neil Atkinson completed their studying back in 1984 when it was known as DABTAC (Dewsbury and Batley Technical Art College). Mick and Neil completed their fabrication and welding City and Guilds at the local college and they both went on to further study AUTOCAD design.

MCJ Fabrications have recently completed the Architectural Metalwork package on behalf of Kier Northern Construction for the new Springfield Sixth Form Centre on Commercial Road which is set to open this September.

Mick Fortune said
“It was an absolute pleasure to work on this project for Kirklees College as I have many happy memories of studying in Dewsbury. I carved out my career there and to be part of this development, coming back to where my fabrication journey began, was a delight. I am excited to see what the finished product looks like and the talent that comes from the new College.”

The project consisted of two external fire escapes, internal stair balustrades and several other steelwork fabrications.
