Meadowhall to lead in late-night experiences

Meadowhall customers learn how to arrange a hand-tied bouquet at a recent The Sessions floristry class

Meadowhall, Yorkshire’s leading lifestyle destination, has unveiled major developments in their leisure offering with the launch of their late-night experience programme. Whilst the centre has always been a popular choice for visitors on an evening, developing its late-night offering is a key focus for 2019 and was initiated at the turn of the year.

With an exciting programme of one-of-a-kind experiences and an atmospheric shift to cater for the growing late-night audience, footfall data from the first quarter of the year has shown that consumers are responding in their droves. With a six per cent increase in footfall since 2018 and over two million visitors post 4pm since January, visitors clearly love late nights at Meadowhall.

Meadowhall is playing to the growing demand for ‘experiences over things’ initiatives. The UK’s first free dedicated selfie attraction, The Post Room, opened in April and has entertained over 131,000 visitors to date. The pop-up’s residency has been extended to July with new themes introduced – including a beach theme to tie-in with Love Island returning to TV screens and a tennis takeover to celebrate Wimbledon in June.

A series of interactive workshops, tastings and masterclasses – The Sessions – has also launched this year. The community-focused events programme is delivered by a series of musicians, artists, mixologists and horticulturists and has been extremely well received, with over 300 sessions frequented to date and the photography and Godiva chocolate masterclasses selling out within several hours of going on sale.

Alex Caley, Marketing Experience Manager at Meadowhall, said: “We pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to customer demand. We are always researching and coming up with the best, innovative ideas to lead in the marketplace. It is important to us that we continue to deliver compelling and first-class visitor experiences at Meadowhall, and our late-night programme is just one element of that. Whether you like to dial up or down after hours, we’ll ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy at Meadowhall.”

The pioneering shopping destination is open until 9pm throughout the week and has over 290 retailers and top brands on offer, including Flannels and Joe Browns, and over 50 places to eat and drink in its Oasis Dining Quarter including Wagamama and Five Guys. Meadowhall’s food and drink outlets are open until 10pm Monday to Saturday, and from 10am – 9pm on Sundays.
